Vineyard Barn, Local Plan & More. What Caldy Needs to Know….
The latest Conservation Areas Wirral (CAW) newsletter is now available and contains a range of updates on heritage and conservation activity across Wirral — with several items of particular interest to Caldy residents:
🌿 Vineyard Barn Update
Work has finally begun to stabilise the historic Grade II listed Vineyard Barn. There are early discussions about a potential planning application to convert it into a dwelling, although significant structural work would be required.
🧭 Wirral Local Plan Approved
Wirral Council’s new “Brownfield only” Local Plan has been approved — the first of its kind in the UK. It protects green spaces, including those near Caldy, while aiming to reduce inequalities across the borough. CAW played a key role in ensuring that Conservation Area policies were included.
📚 Wirral History & Heritage Fair
CAW attended the March 2025 Fair at Hulme Hall, helping to raise
awareness of Wirral’s 26 Conservation Areas (including Caldy), among
the 1,900 visitors.
